Recorders Galore!

July 14 @ 2:45 pm - 3:45 pm

Charles Tucker

The first day will be a quick intro to recorder playing.  Learn the first 6 notes or so and you can play many tunes.  If your church wants to create an instrumental ensemble, a recorder group is useful and relatively easy to form.
We will explore varied ways that recorders and other early instruments can be effective in the life of the local church.  Blending with singers, guitars, autoharps, the recorder is effective in leading music and providing "new" old sounds that are pleasing and exciting. Folk music and 21st century music, as well as more tried and true music, are well within the reach of new recorder players. Class members will be introduced to seven or eight sizes of recorders ranging from 6" long to 6'6'' and the granddaddy at 7'2" (15' 8" if laid out flat!–the first one in the US!!) .
